What's New

Camp Merz, located south of Mayville, NY on Chautauqua Lake has 350 acres of hardwood forest, evergreens and open meadows.

The 1200 feet of waterfront on the lake provides opportunities for swimming, rowing, canoeing, motor boating, sailing, and water-skiing.

  • Topics include, clothing, equipment, first aid, travel, nutrition, shelters, and much more.

    This is an indoor course with opportunities to test some equipment in the outdoors.

    Winter Camping is not Summer Camping with more clothes! Come to OKPIK and prepare yourself and your Unit for a successful experience in the outdoors during a beautiful time of the year! Click HERE for details!

  • Camping with Special Needs
  • The Allegheny Highlands Council will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your dietary, physical or medical needs.

    Please complete a special needs application and return it to the council service center no later than June 1.

  • Another New and Exciting Program Option
  •  

    Scouts participating in the older scout program this summer will be rappelling in Panama Rocks Park as part of their program.

    The Park consists of 12 acres of an Erupted Paleozoic Seashore originating Over 300 Million Years Ago. It is a Ridge of Quartz Conglomerate Rock, which was Carved and Shaped by a Glacier, and is All Set Amid An Ancient Forest


  • New Personal Health and Medical Record Form
  • The BSA has adopted a new form starting in 2009. The new form requires all adults and scouts get an annual physical.

    This new form is required for 2010.

    The new form was sent out in the leader guides and is available on our Forms & Documents page.

  • Have you ever heard about a little thing called the X Games? This is where they take regular sports and add action and excitement. Well in the spirit of this we are taking ordinary scouting to the next level and taking it up a notch. Be ready for more competitions, in-site cooking, scouting events, and by the way you might want to know your knots.

  • East Hill IS ready!
  • We are very excited about the new adirondacks & pavilion that are now complete on East Hill. This area is used for outpost camping during the summer and will be available for rent the rest of the year!

    We are committed to helping our environment through our energy saving programs. Solar panels, compact florescent lights and recycling are all part of this exciting new program.



  • FREE Camping!!!
  • That's right... Free!
    Effective immediately, boy scout troops from our council are welcome to weekend tent camp at Merz or Elk Lick for free, as long as you agree to do a 2 hour service project for the camp.
    You must submit the normal paperwork to reserve a site in advance so the ranger has lead time to contact you about what projects are on his list. Click Here for more information
