Camp Merz, located south of Mayville, NY on Chautauqua Lake has 350 acres of hardwood forest, evergreens and open meadows. The 1200 feet of waterfront on the lake provides opportunities for swimming, rowing, canoeing, motor boating, sailing, and water-skiing.

What's New

• New Personal Health and Medical Record Form

The BSA has adopted a new form starting this year. The new form requires all adults and scouts get an annual physical. For this summer only we will accept the old form for scouts who are within the 3 year limit IF the new form is completely filled out, signed by the parent and attached to the old form. A new physical is not required for 2009 but will be required for 2010. The new form was sent out in the leader guides and is available on our Forms & Documents page.

• Another New and Exciting Program Option

Scouts participating in the older scout program this summer will be bouldering and repelling in Chautauqua Gorge State Forest as part of their program. Brand new repelling equipment has just been purchased for this exciting activity!

• Older Scout Program Update

Any scouts participating in the Older Scout Program will need to bring Hiking Boots and sport gloves for bouldering.

• New Bikes are here!!!

You asked and we listened! Boys participating in the Older Scout Program will enjoy brand new bikes this summer. We have just purchased 12 Diamond Back Kalamar bikes and helmets for this exciting program.

Well in the spirit of this we are taking ordinary scouting to the next level and taking it up a notch. That's right... Free! Effective immediately, boy scout troops from our council are welcome to weekend tent camp at Merz or Elk Lick for free, as long as you agree to do a 2 hour service project for the camp. You must submit the normal paperwork to reserve a site in advance so the ranger has lead time to contact you about what projects are on his list. Click Here for more information
