What's New

Camp Merz, located south of Mayville, NY on Chautauqua Lake has 350 acres of hardwood forest, evergreens and open meadows.

The 1200 feet of waterfront on the lake provides opportunities for swimming, rowing, canoeing, motor boating, sailing, and water-skiing.

  • Check Out the New Tractor!!
  • Please click on the photo to the right to see a full screen view of our new Massey Ferguson tractor with front end loader and rear auger. It also has snow plow attachment and removable cab for winter. It will also pull our mowing deck. This has been purchased through a generous grant from the Sheldon Foundation.



  • New for 2008 Photography Merit Badge
  • We have added a number of new merit badge programs for 2008. One in particular is the Photography Merit Badge. Please be sure any boys taking this class bring a digital camera. Having a digital camera is required to complete the class.


  • 75th Anniversary of Camp Merz
  • Come back to your childhood memories at Camp Merz. Come back and smell the smoke of the camp fire. We are welcoming old camp staff and campers from over the years to stop into camp and rekindle your fond memories as a scout in camp.


  • Camp Merz Goes Green!

    We are committed to helping our environment through our energy saving programs. Solar panels, compact florescent lights, on-demand hot water heaters and recycling are all part of this exciting new program.



  • East Hill will be ready!
  • We are very excited about the new adirondacks & pavilion being built on East Hill. This area will be used for our First year camper program and outpost camping during the summer and will be available for rent the rest of the year!


  • FREE Camping!!!
  • That's right... Free!
    Effective immediately, boy scout troops from our council are welcome to weekend tent camp at Merz or Elk Lick for free, as long as you agree to do a 2 hour service project for the camp.
    You must submit the normal paperwork to reserve a site in advance so the ranger has lead time to contact you about what projects are on his list. Click Here for more information
